Cartoon Sample Game for new Fluxx Rules Sheet
As described in the WWN
for 3/1/7, we want to create a sample game for Fluxx, to
feature in the next version of the rules. What we want is something
reminiscent of the two characters in the cartoon on the
old version of the instructions (which was dropped from the
most recent revision of the instructions).
What we're looking for is a little comic strip, with two people
playing Fluxx. In the last panel, as one player excitedly wins,
the other player reveals that *they* were also just about to
win, and insists they shuffle up and play again. The art will
be reproduced in a 4" x 6.5" space or maybe 4"
x 9" if it needs that much room. Black and white line art.
We are going to need a slightly different sample game in each
of the different editions, but they will differ only in which
Keepers and Goals are used in the game. The game is a very short
simple set of the basic cards that come in all versions of Fluxx.
The game sequence for Fluxx:
|
Setup: He starts with: Keeper-A, Draw 2, and Take Another
Turn. She starts with Keeper-B, Goal-AB, and Steal a Keeper.
Turn 1: He draws 1 card (Keeper Limit 3), then he plays
Draw 2. (He then draws another card.)
Turn 2: She draws 2 cards (Trash a Keeper and Play
3), then she plays Keeper-B.
Turn 3: He draws 2 cards (Goal-AC and Play 2) and plays
Play 2. He then needs to play 1 more card, so he plays Take Another
Turn.
Turn 4: This makes it his turn again, and he draws
2 more cards (Keeper-C and Goal-WZ). He plays Keeper-A and Keeper-C.
Turn 5: She draws 2 (Hand Limit 2 and Goal-XY) and
plays Steal a Keeper. She steals his Keeper-A, then she plays
Goal-AB and wins! He complains that he was about to win with
Goal-AC and insists on a rematch.

Specifics of the Keepers & Goals for Fluxx:
- Keeper-A: Love
- Keeper-B: Peace
- Keeper-C: The Brain
- Goal-AB: Hippyism
- Goal-AC: Hearts and Minds
- Goal-WZ: Time is Money

Different cards will be featured in the rules for EcoFluxx,
Family Fluxx, Fluxx Español, and Stoner Fluxx, but we
can decide later what cards exactly we will use. (Indeed, the
ones shown here aren't set in stone.)
