I was introduced to Fluxx by a strange, long-haired freak--er, I mean friend--who picked the game up at Dragon*Con '03. Immediately I was hooked... but surely all of their games couldn't be this fun? Looney Labs proved me wrong at Dragon*Con '04 when I played nearly all of their games, including several hours of Giant IceTowers!
And best of all, my lovely housemates and great friends David "Lord of the Low Frequency" and Molly got me 4 sets of the humongous cardboard Icehouse pieces for the holidays!! We managed to paint them all (light yellow, forest green, sky blue, and purple) in time for summer '05 and finally put a nice shiny coat of polyurethane on them in time for Dragon*Con '05. And believe me, they needed some protection for Dragon*Con! Oops paint is really great for this sort of thing - 1 quart for $1. Although I really liked Amy's work-of-art-quality marker-decorated pyramids, I don't know if I have the patience for it! By the way, if anybody else needs some paint-on polyurethane, we have most of a gallon left over...
The household added a new wrinkle for Dragon*Con '06 by arriving completely on bikes, with the Giant Pyramids in tow on a trailer!
Anyway... you can tell I've been converted.
During the week, I'm a lab tech working with fruit fly genetics (that biology degree is good for something!). I also love knitting - I work and teach at Nease's Needlework on Saturdays - and singing and playing the guitar in a folk/classical style, and I'm always up for learning new things. See you in Piedmont Park - I'll be the one with the two-tone hair (sheesh! can you believe I bleached it for D*Con '05 and it's still half-blonde?) and Giant Icehouse Pieces! |
