Sales & Demo Rabbit with Bunny Minions! I live and work in Santa Cruz, California, and manage Game*Alot Toys & Games - a roleplaying shop that's been around longer then I've been alive! Scary, but true.
I am a "Chrononauts zombie" - its my favorite, I can't help it, I play it at the drop of a chessboard-bandana! When my need for sweet, sweet time travel isn't satisfied, I am known to wander mumbling "muust plaaay gaaaame..." and trying to eat people's brains.
We play Nanofictionary around the Warren when I am outvoted, but because we're all writers or game designers, it spawns some very odd stories (we've had to start using timers!). Zendo is my favorite Icehouse game, but I don't play much lately. Tastes vary, and it often is not silly enough to suit the palate of people coming home from a long hard day of gaming.
Though you might not be able to tell in the photo my hair goes all the way down to my knees. Though I've never gotten a "Long Hair Compliment Card" I do give them out occasionally ;-)
When I am not busy playing games I host community events ranging from support groups, tournaments, sewing nights, potlucks, activist meetings, and minature paint-a-thons... where we usually end up playing more games anyway.
I am of the Liberal bohemian sort, at home in Santa Cruz despite the Sillicon Valley changes. Game store manager by day, model by night. I keep my head on straight through photography and figure-drawing.
Our Warren is a interdependent/intentional community of friends we've picked up over the years, most of whom no longer live under the same roof. We are almost all married-20-somethings, but there are a few that buck that trend and are friends nonetheless. We have roving game nights and communal dinners. We also go bowling every Tuesday night at the Boardwalk Bowl. Say "hello" to us - we're the "Saving Throws" :-)
Stop by the shop if you're in the area, introduce yourself at the next convention (you'll recognize me by the hair, and the fact that I usually cosplay for the L5R tournaments), or wave to me on the street. |
