EcoFluxx

What is EcoFluxx? The nature game of ever-changing rules. Game play is fast and fun, just like original Fluxx, but with all new, natural Keepers like dirt, leaves, bears and frogs! New "Eats" Goals help teach about the food chain, and fun Actions like "Mass Migration" and "Extinction," and the New Rule "Composting" help set the tone. Features beautiful nature drawings.
How do you play? EcoFluxx plays just like regular Fluxx – you start with the Basic Rules: Draw 1, Play 1 and proceed from there. The main difference between Fluxx and EcoFluxx is that in EcoFluxx, there's a new category of Goals we call "Eats" Goals. These help demonstrate food-web connections, and the neat thing about them is that you don't have to have both Goal elements in your possession. For example, if the Goal is "Bears Eat Fish" then the person who has the "Bears" Keeper face up on the table in front of them wins, if anyone (not just themselves) has "Fish" on the table. Other than that, it's the same Fluxx you already know and love.

National Standards Correlation On this page you will find a listing of how EcoFluxx correlates with the National Science standards. We've taken the behaviors that students accomplish while playing EcoFluxx and put this against the verbage of the Standards, complete with reference and links. This table will grow as teachers from around the country help correlate their own State Standards with Ecofluxx. Please help with this project and drop Carol an email at [edu-support (at) looneylabs.com] with information on Educational Standards in your state and how our games fit your state's requirements!

How to use EcoFluxx in your class
  • Research the various organizations that the EcoFluxx Foundation has given money to. Find an ecologically friendly organization in your area that could qualify for funding, and have your students write a proposal.
  • Have the students come up with new Keepers and Goals – new predators, new prey, new food webs...
  • Use the EcoFluxx Pledge cards as "Homework Coupons" – if the students do a cool thing to help save the Earth and make it a better world, have them write that up, attach the Pledge card, and that counts as one day's homework.
  • EcoFluxx is a great "rainy day" activity – and a fantastic way to reward students who are done early – keep a deck available for play whenever students have a free 10 minutes.
  • Basics: Ages 8 and up. 3-6 players. 10-40 min. SRP: $12. A portion of Looney Lab's profits from this game go to the EcoFluxx Foundation, benefitting ecological organizations everywhere.
